Silver Sonata Dressage Award - Outstanding BC Young Rider

History of the Silver Sonata Award

Purpose:

To identify and reward an outstanding young BC dressage rider, who displays exceptional dedication to the improvement of themselves and their horse in the sport of dressage. The recipient must display good sportsmanship, and commitment to the sport.

The recipient must have developed/be currently developing a dressage horse, and be recommended for the award by two nominators.

Qualifications:

• Candidate must be between 12 & 21 years old and be a current member of Horse Council BC & BC Young Riders - Dressage. 

• Must have shown outstanding dedication to the sport of dressage through competition and/or volunteer work 

• Must have developed/be currently developing a dressage horse (all breeds and levels of training will be considered equally). It is not necessary to be showing at the national/provincial level.

• Must be nominated by a nominator and co-signed by a supporting nominator (ex. coach/ trainer, fellow competitor, stable manager, show committee person, member of BC Young Rider Program). Nominators do not have to be a BC Young Rider member.

• The completed nomination form must be submitted by the deadline along with supporting signatures.

• Ownership of the horse is not required.

Award:

The winner of the award will be presented with a perpetual trophy, which they may keep for one year. The award will be presented at the year-end awards and wind up party for the BC Young Rider Program.  Please try to have all the nominated BCYR members attend the awards evening. 

Final selection of the award winner will be by the BCYR executive and be awarded by the sponsor if available.
