Sarah SewellSarah Sewell and Southern GentryI'm 19 (in Feb) and have been riding since I was a baby. I learnt how to ride on a couple of grumpy ponies who also taught me how to stay on! My very first show was when I was 6 or 7 with a lesson pony named Blazer. When I was 9, I took my pony Alice, to my very first dressage show and won second place. As I progressed I leased two different horses that I showed for a couple of years. When I was old enough my Mom let me to start riding her horse, Gentry, who is my current competition horse. My first show with him will always stick out in my mind because I scored 72% in the walk/trot class. With Gentry I went from basic one to junior young riders last year and fourth level/PSG in this year. We have won a number of championships and reserve championships including Junior Series Champion and Third level Champion at Autumn Classic in 2004.
Rob Pauze, my coach of 5 years and I have a long term goal of showing Gentry at Grand Prix within 4 or 5 years from now. In the mean time, I would plan to show PSG and Young Riders for the next two years. Outside of horses, I'm attending the University College of the Fraser Valley and plan to get a degree in history and minor in political science. Once I graduate I am going to go to law school at UBC. I also work part-time at the Otter Co-op. When I'm not working or at school I'm either at the barn or out with my friends or my boyfriend Jordan. Southern Gentry: Gentry is a 14 year-old bay gelding. He was a local bred horse, (half Thoroughbred, Hanoverian, Saddlebred, Quarter horse) registered Canadian Sport Horse and Canadian Warmblood. We bought him when he was only 18 months old and as homely as could be. He wasn't supposed to grow to 17.3hh, but it turned out fine. Gentry has a unique personality and does not like it when you pay attention to any other horse. He is also very social with both other horses and people. He loves his work and is showing us how much he loves the advanced movements. My old pony Alice is now his companion at my Grandparents barn in Aldergrove
