Esmee Ingham
My name is Esmee Ingham, I am 17 years old from West Vancouver, BC. I am a student in grade twelve at Sentinel Secondary School, enrolled in the Super Achievers program. This curriculum allows me to maximize my time-spent training at the barn due to the fact that I have to commute at least two hours each day. My aunt sparked my passion for horses at a very young age. I started out riding western and took jumping lessons at Wildwood Paddocks at the age of 5. After a few years I moved to North Shore Equestrian Center and then Burnaby Equestrian center, riding school ponies as well as, attending summer camps at Aspengrove. My first introduction to Dressage was at the age of 12 in Pemberton at Dreamcatcher Meadows where I rode my uncle’s 19-year-old roping horse at Training and First Level. At the age of 14, I was given the wonderful opportunity to begin riding at Wendy Christoff’s barn in Ladner. I started out riding Wendy’s schoolmaster Caboose at Training and First Level for two years. I went to the BC Summer Games in 2008, winning a silver medal on one day and Bronze for team. In September 08 I was looking to purchase my first horse and found Norseman, a 14 year old, 17hh Swedish Warmblood, otherwise known as, “Normy”, he was trained and ridden by Joni Lynn Peters of Armstrong, BC. Normy and I spent the winter training at FEI Juniors with one goal in mind, the Nationals. We qualified and won Reserve Champion in both the Technical and Freestyle. This winter we are focusing on the North American Junior, Young Rider Championships held in Kentucky, July 2010 as well as the Nationals in Chilliwack. Over the winter training months, I am continuing to train at Juniors, as this is my last year to compete at this level. I am looking forward to the 2010 season ahead.
