Awards Coordinator - Procedures and Policies

Updated January 2009

  1. BCYR will only accept mailed tests for all awards, no faxes or e-mails.

  2. Local (Lower Mainland) BCYR Members must receive their awards at a regular meeting/event, if they cannot attend the Banquet.

  3. Award forms must be used to submit any and all tests.

  4. Awards are issued for GOLD rated shows only.

  5. If an Awards member's relative is nominated for a subjective award, i.e. - The Silver Sonata or The Improved Rider, they will be removed from any connection with that award.

  6. The Awards member can calculate awards, which are not subjective, i.e. - The Level Awards and The 8 Award, even if their relative is a recipient.

  7. The procedures to follow for subjective (The Silver Sonata Award and The Most Improved Rider) BCYR Awards are:

    • Mail a copy of every Nomination, received before October 15th of that year, to the Awards Coordinator.

    • Executive members are excluded from the selection making process, if they have:  Nominated or are related to or coaching the nominee.

    • Upon reading all the nominations, all Executive members are to mail their vote in writing to the Awards Coordinator by the stated deadline.

    • Executive members can only vote once and cannot change their vote.

    • The Awards Coordinator is to tally the votes and report the results back to the Executive

    • If a tie occurs, the Executive is to vote again between the tied recipients.

    • The chosen recipient is contacted by telephone by the Awards Coordinator.

    • Whenever possible the Award recipients are to accept their award in person, at the year-end BCYR party.

    • Recipients of awards have the trophy for their use for one year and are to return it before November 1st of the next year.

    • BCYR will be responsible for the engraving of perpetual trophies.
